Vivienne Tam Mini More Than Just a Pretty Face.

I recently fell in love….with a computer. My friends all thought I was completely nuts until I showed them the gorgeous thing. The new Vivienne Tam mini by HP, named appropriately, ‘Butterfly Lovers’,  is a new level of beautiful – a stunning brushed gold, with delicate transparent red and gold butterflies all over it - total class. This is the second design by American designer Vivienne Tam for HP.  The first one was a pink designed notebook which didn’t hold quite the appeal of this netbook.

Fair Go has got me thinking….

In case you missed it, this weeks’ episode of Fair Go featured the hassles of extended warranties for electronic goods. In a lot of cases, people are being upsold into purchasing extended warranties for electronics goods, only to find that when they try and claim under these warranties the hassle involved can make them lose the will to live and they were probably paying again for what would have been covered automatically under the Consumers Guarantee Act. I can understand. Well, I can understand both sides of the story really – from a merchants’ point of view electronic goods sales involve very low margins whereas the profit margins on the Extended Warranty sales are huge, hence the incentive to sell them. It’s the same with travel insurance you purchase through your travel agent – commission on your airfares is low – but the commission on Insurance sales is huge! (more…)

We at ABC are long-time fans of Dell.  Previously only able to be purchased online, their products are  now available through appointed Partner Direct partners throughout NZ. And that’s us! Grunty and reliable, these are quality products that seem to never say die.

A couple of stories from our family: We have one Dell laptop that is still in the family;  10 years old and still going strong in the hands of Wil’s mother-in-law. No reflection either way on Wil’s mother-in-law!

 the moment are serious bang-for-your buck.  The specs aren’t specially impressive – Celeron 900 2.2 GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 160GB harddrive  – but despite that they run really well – fast and crisp. They are tough, resilient machines and we currently have plenty going into schools where they get quite a hiding – they are holding up well! Windows XP drivers are available for these machines on the Lenovo site – this is a real plus and at $899 + GST RRP for around a thousand bucks this is value. Compare the usability of this machine with the 15.1″ screen to a similar priced netbook and your decision is made, this is a great buy. Give us a call if you’d like to have a look at one!
